Anderson rediscovers something greater than his own youth—the youth of the cinema itself” Richard Brody, The New Yorker

Paul Thomas Anderson delivers a piping-hot, jumbo slice-of-life look at how it felt to grow up on the fringes of the film industry circa 1973, as seen through the eyes of an ambitious former child actor plotting how to follow up his early screen career. Licorice Pizza sees Alana Kane and Gary Valentine grow up, run around and fall in love in California’s San Fernando Valley in the 1970s.

The film features debut performances from both Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman (the son of late actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman).

“We were really using all of our friends and all of our family to make the film. So if anything, it verified this belief that you really don’t need much more than the desire and a handful of friends and family to make a great film.” – Paul Thomas Anderson
