EXIT 8
Screening, Experiential, Performance, Set Design
A sold-out series of immersive preview screenings that blurred the line between audience and narrative, transforming cinema arrivals into a live, disorientating extension of EXIT 8.
WHY
To build anticipation for the UK release of EXIT 8, we set out to create a preview experience that mirrored the film’s central premise: repetition, uncertainty and the fear of missing something hidden in plain sight.
The goal was to move beyond a traditional screening format and instead immerse audiences in the film’s unsettling world before they even reached their seats, creating a memorable, story-led experience designed to spark conversation and social sharing.
WHAT
We designed and delivered two sold-out immersive screenings in collaboration with Vertigo Releasing across FACT Liverpool and HOME Manchester.
From the moment guests arrived, the experience began. Audiences were guided through the cinema via a network of yellow tape and Exit 8 signage, echoing the film’s sterile subway setting. However, what appeared to be a straightforward route quickly became a loop, disorientating guests and subtly placing them inside the world of the film.
This sense of unease was heightened through live performance, with actors inhabiting the space and introducing moments of ambiguity and tension as guests navigated the corridors. The journey to the screen became part of the narrative, reinforcing the film’s themes of repetition and anomaly.
By the time audiences reached the auditorium, they had already experienced a version of the story firsthand, seamlessly transitioning from physical environment into on-screen narrative.
